Christopher W. P. Overton

Professional Experience
Christopher W. P. Overton devotes his entire practice to real estate litigation and trial practice, with an emphasis on eminent domain matters.

Eminent Domain
After first working for a prominent eminent domain firm in Los Angeles representing public agencies in litigation relating to its acquisition of properties for construction of new schools, Mr. Overton now exclusively represents real property and business owners in eminent domain matters against public agencies.  This work encompasses everything from counseling clients whose properties may be the subject of later eminent domain action by public agencies, negotiating compensation and relocation on behalf of those clients, contesting the agency's right to take the property and representing those clients through trial if necessary.  Mr. Overton also represents property and business owners bringing their own lawsuits against public agencies arising from public projects that negatively impact their real property or business interests.

Real Estate

Mr. Overton represents both clients making and defending claims against title to real property, including claims relating to fraudulent transfers of title, constructive trusts and easements.  He also represents owners of real property in their attempts to sell or partition property over the objections of their co-owners.  He also works in conjunction with partner Mario Vega to ensure that his clients' real property assets are held in such a way as to optimize their return while also minimizing liabilities flowing to them.
